Summer Bible Study: The Catechism and You!
June 8, 6:00 pm - July 20 2022 | Bethel Lutheran Church (Chapel)
Luther’s catechisms are more than just books to memorize. Gleaned from scripture, they provide the nuts and bolts of the Christian faith and belief for daily peace.
This summer we’ll be taking an introductory look at a couple of Martin Luther’s most used and known works: Luther’s Small Catechism (the basics of the Christian Faith in a nutshell, published for use in the family and the church) and Luther’s Large Catechism (the big brother to the small, covering the same territory but with more commentary and depth).
In the introduction to his Large Catechism, Luther wrote: “…I must still read and study the catechism daily, and yet I cannot master it as I wish, but must remain as a child and pupil of the catechism – and I do so gladly…” May we at Bethel continue also to remain as children and pupils of the catechism!
Join Pastor Jason as we open up both the Small and the Large Catechisms – and hear the God’s law and gospel in a whole new way. You can read as much or as little as you like – no memorization required (though it never hurts!). We’ll gather for five Wednesday evenings this summer at 6 pm: June 8, 15, 22, and July 6, 20.
